Frequently Asked Questions.

Below are the answers to some of the questions we are asked most frequently. If you have any other queries, please don't hesitate to contact us and one of our staff will be pleased to assist you.

1. Can I return home for a short visit during the period of my insurance without breaking cover?
Yes -Where the period of insurance is 9 months or more this Insurance extends to include one round trip to the United Kingdom from the destination country.

2. Can I extend the period of my cover and the geographical limits if necessary?
Yes- provided that there has not been a break in cover. If there has been a claim under the policy, any extension of cover must be sanctioned and is at the discretion of the Underwriters

3. If I take out cover for Area 2 (Australia and New Zealand) and visit any countries in Area 3 or Area 4 will I still be covered?
The policy allows you to stop over for a maximum of seven nights in Area’s 3 and 4 at no extra premium. However if you exceed this period you will need to be insured for areas 3 and 4 at the appropriate additional premium.

However, if cover is arranged on a 'One Way' basis, the premium is appropriate to the Area or Areas that you stop over on your travels.

4. Is it possible to pay an additional premium in order to avoid paying an excess?
No. We believe that the £30 excess is modest, and this is the total excess that you will pay on any claim.

5. What do I do if I have to claim?
If you have to make a medical claim we provide you with a 24 hour emergency telephone number. We also provide you with a further telephone number of the claims bureau that deals with all other claims- i.e. baggage loss etc.

6. Am I covered if I obtain employment under a ‘Working Holiday’ Visa?
Yes. However, if you participate in Agricultural, Equestrian or any Manual Labour in which you will be involved in working with or in proximity to heavy machinery, we will require an additional premium.

7. Do you only insure the adventure activities listed in your brochure?
We cover most adventure activities with the exception of those that we clearly exclude. If you want confirmation that any particular pursuit is covered, please contact us.

8. Is dental treatment covered?
Yes emergency dental treatment is covered up to a sum of £500

9. Can I obtain cover for a pre-existing medical condition?
If you have any pre -existing medical condition additional terms or restrictions in cover may apply. A medical screening telephone line is provided (01243 621049) so that persons who have a pre-existing medical condition may declare this and be advised of any terms that may be required. This applies to your own health, that of a close relative or any person on whom the trip depends

10. How can I get hold of a claim form?
Please see our making a claim section for details of how to get hold of a claim form.
